Medvezhyegorsky district

Medvezhiegorsk district of Karelia is located in the northwestern tip of Big lips povenetskogo Bay of Onega lake at the mouths of rivers Kumsa and Entrant– this Northern part of the pristine, clean lake Onega, with great fishing, plenty of mushrooms, berries, a professional hunting and gently sloping sandy beaches with more than 1650 Islands.

The city is surrounded by picturesque cliffs and sandy-gravel hills covered with coniferous forests.

In the district many camp sites, guest houses and lodges, the most famous of them is the tourist complex "Malaya Medvezhka" and "the Big dipper". Great lake fishing has 47 species of fish, among which the wild Onega salmon, walleye, perch, pike, roach, grayling, char and other. 16 pound salmon, pike up to 10 kg, and is not uncommon pike up to 18 kg.

The cultural heritage of the area is the national Park "Vodlozersky", Pegrema abandoned village, Museum of the history of the white sea-Baltic canal, the Mannerheim line, the Monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators, a memorial cemetery "Sandarmokh" fraternal graves of Soviet soldiers killed during the great Patriotic war, the place of breakthrough, troops of the Karelian front.
