The river Small Istra stretching for nearly 50 km through the territory of Ruzsky of the city district and Istra district of the Moscow region. It originates from Deep lake and then flows into the river Istra. First, its course lies among the swampy forests, so it is quite narrow, and for slow but when the forest gives way to plains and meadows, Malaya Istra becomes a wide flowing river, and the velocity of its flow increases markedly.
