Belsky district

Belsky district covers the southern part of the Arkhangelsk region and is considered as the region corresponding to the far North. This is one of the areas where once lived the ancient tribes of Finno-Ugric peoples; today there are mainly the rural settlement and the only town of Velsk. Tourists who want to see the history and culture of this region can visit the Belsky Museum of local history and to visit local churches and chapels, mostly small wooden buildings. However, for the most part, stay in Velsk district focused on local nature, which is distinguished by a special Northern charm and flavor. Through the district several rivers, the largest of which are the vel and the lever, which provides tourists excellent conditions for rafting, fishing and meditative rest in the water.
