Shilovsky district

Shilovskiy district covers the territory of the Oka-don plain and Meshchera lowland. Its nature is picturesque and varied: it includes coniferous, deciduous and mixed forests and meadows lying in the valley of the Oka river. Besides it, here is the river Vapor, and many other smaller rivers and lakes, so the rest of Shilovsky district is usually not complete without a cosy leisure time on the shore and exciting river excursions. This region is famous for the beauty of nature and rich history: the oldest archaeological findings testify about life in these places long before our era. Culture in later eras depicted in temple architecture of XVIII-XIX centuries, samples of which are preserved here in large numbers. Many of them have Federal and regional importance: for example, the assumption Church in the village of Shilovo, Church of the Nativity in Acorn and other objects.
