Pinega river

The river Pinega flows in the Arkhangelsk region and has a length of nearly 780 km, of which about 600 km are used for navigation. Its source is located on a hill, the fork of a small river – Black and White. The Pinega flows mainly in a broad floodplain valley and has a beautiful shore: partly wooded, partly meadows, in some places there are sandy shallows. Around the coast there are many interesting places, so stay on the Pinega river will not seem boring. First, you can see many examples of old Russian architecture of the North – wooden chapels and churches, Artemieva-verkolsky monastery and the ruins of the Krasnogorsk monastery. Second, in the valley of the river is located more than 500 caves, which form the Pinega reserve. And the surrounding villages are associated with various cultural figures that will be interesting to fans of history and culture.
