Kosmozero (Koemozero) lake

Lake Kosmozero spread over an area of 20 sq km. in Medvezhiegorsk region of Karelia, on the Zaonezhye Peninsula in the North of Onega. It has a rather unusual, highly elongated shape, the beautiful sloping shores and several Islands. Along the lake shores are several small villages and picturesque wooden churches and chapels for you to explore during your vacation on lake Kosmozero. Nearby is the famous Museum-reserve Kizhi, widely popular among tourists. In addition, here you can just relax and enjoy the Karelian nature or fishing. The lake is home to perch, burbot, roach, ruff and pike are occasionally caught whitefish. Fishing in these places is popular and is carried out mainly from a boat.
