Kuma river

Kuma – one of the largest rivers in the North Caucasus, which has a length of 800 km. It starts on the territory of Karachay-Cherkessia at Rocky ridge and at the headwaters of the different turbulent and picturesque mountain shores. In the lower reaches of Kuma enters the plains and becomes a calm river. Sometimes it flows over a sandy terrain, which probably gave it a name: the Turkish word "Kum" means "sand". Along the river banks a slew of settlements, including cities, however, rest on the river Kuma is suitable not only local residents but also visiting tourists. In addition to admiring nature, Kuma offers a lot of good places for fishing. One of the fish parts is considered to be Otkaznenskoe reservoir, formed on the bed of the river near the village Abandoned. There are about 70 species of fish and are often caught perch, bream, perch, crucian carp and gudgeon.
