Cheboksarskoe vodohranilische reservoir

Cheboksary reservoir is located on the Volga river and covers the three region – Nizhny Novgorod region, Chuvashia and Mari El. The surface area of the reservoir is more than 2 thousand sq. km., and on its shore there are large cities – Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary and Kozmodemyansk. The reservoir was formed in the early 80-ies of XX century on the basis of the Cheboksary hydroelectric power station, which operates to this day in the city Novocheboksarsk. Among tourists and locals stay on the Cheboksary reservoir is quite popular: there are water tours and cruising boats from Moscow to Astrakhan, Rostov-on-don and other cities. Guests can stay at the local camp sites for a few days, just to spend a weekend. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the abundance of pike and perch in this pond, and will be able to catch perch, Chub and some other types.
