Verhnee Kuyto (Verh. Kunto, Verh. Kugno) lake

Lake Upper Kuito lies on the North of Karelia, in the picturesque village away from major settlements. The total area of the reservoir is almost 200 sq km, and has over 170 Islands. On the shore is the village of Voknavolok, though, mainly the lake shore is covered with uninhabited pine forests, where you can stay with a tent and enjoy nature. Sometimes the beaches are rocky, sometimes swampy, with occasional sandy beaches. Upper Kuito is regularly visited by fishermen, because its waters are rich with fish: the most catches whitefish and also pike, roach, perch, grayling, trout, ruff, and many other types. Campings in lake Upper Kuito offer for rent wooden houses, baths and boats and are popular with fans of comfortable rest on the nature.
