Kotokel
Kotokel is an incredibly picturesque and cosy resort town on the shores of the lake. It is located on the territory of Buryatia Republic, approximately 130 km from Ulan-Ude is just few kilometers from lake Baikal. All major towns are located at considerable distance from this place, but here come the inhabitants of different regions. The most popular is the Wellness vacation resort Kotokel, which contribute to the local healing mud. Currently, tourists are not recommended to drink the lake water and fish in the lake, since 2008, it has survived an environmental catastrophe, but to bathe in Kotokel is not prohibited. 20 km from the lake, in the village Goryachinsk, the sanatorium, which actively uses mineral water and therapeutic mud and is willing to accept on rest and treatment to all comers.
