Gorokhovetsky district

Gorokhovetsky district is an area of about 1,500 square km, with the administrative center in the town of Gorokhovets. In VI century on the place settled by the ancient tribes of the Finno-Ugric peoples, and in later documents since the XIII century, the city became known as the city. In several places the area of the district covers the coastal area of Oka river; and through it flows the Klyazma, near which are concentrated many small lakes. All this provides good conditions for recreation in Gorokhovetsky district, as tourists love to spend their free time on the water fishing from shore and from boats, as well as visiting local attractions. On the banks of the Klyazma river are the ancient monasteries – the sign and the Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas, and located near the Annunciation Cathedral and Gorokhovetsky historical and architectural Museum.
